Face Off Season 2 Premiere: Girls Rule!

Let me just start by saying that I can’t believe I’ve been missing what is now a new guilty pleasure, “Face Off”!!!! For those that aren’t familiar, Face Off is a reality show where special effects makeup artists compete in a series of challenges where they have to show their skills based on themes that really test their artistic and creative ability. Last night’s premiere episode was EVERYTHING! The show started with a foundation challenge(I turned it on at this point) where they had to create a look in a very short amount of time based on whatever they wanted to do; this set the bar and allowed the judges Glenn Hetrick, Ve Neill, Patrick Tatopoulos to get a glimpse at what these artists were all about. The big challenge came when the artists were asked to create modern versions of the famed characters from the Wizard of Oz! The women were paired on one team, and the men on another and they went OFF! It was so intriguing to watch the contestants sculpt the molds for the faces, create casts molds for pieces of the body, paint, airbrush, …it was just so much! The MUA beauty twins, Janice and Denise Tunnell, are the reason I decided to watch because last season on their radio show, Beauty Talk, it was the talk of the town!!!….and since I didn’t watch, I felt left out haha. Not this time!
Any who, I thoroughly enjoyed the show and I loved how each team had such unique inspiration and direction for how they wanted to interpret the characters. The girls team won (because girls rule), and if you could have seen their take on the wicked witch, you’d want to know what kind of water that witch has been drinking and order a whole case! I mean, we always associate the witch with being old and wrinkled, very unattractive, but they made this witch so, SO beautiful, yet she had this very mysterious and cold nature about her; simply amazing! Here are some photos of their work from last night from syfy.com.
