VPL F’12 NYFW: Muted Hues, Structured Frocks, Haute Knits

I started off my fashion week fiasco on Saturday as I went backstage with VPL. As I expected, it was a haute frenzy of models running this and that way, the hair and makeup stations crowded with press and others snapping photos, so I mixed myself right in, take a look at the hair and makeup concepts for VPL Fall 2012.

I was told that the concept for the hair was based on a having a femininity with the sleek slicked back hair, but an unexpected and sort of edgy factor where the hair came down over a low hidden ponytail…

The concept for makup presented a similar concept as hair, feminine with an edge that was translated into a very natural and clean face with a pop of color on the eyes. They used Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ liptar in “TRAFFIC”, a bright yellow,  for the lids of lighter complected models, and “STRUMPET” for darker complected models for a more neutral tone…

The collection was amazing, it consisted of structured frocks in muted hues whose folds, pleats, and contrasting fabrics gave them dimension and depth.I loved the subtle manipulation presented in the minimal draping of many of the pieces, sophistication with a contemporary twist. There were also many great knits pieces, ranging from slightly oversized sweaters to knits made to resemble swimwear, quite awesome if you ask me!.. You can view some pieces from the collection below…

I’m sure many will want for the sophistication and edge in VPL’s Fall collection!
